Legal education and protection of rights and freedoms
We share knowledge about the rights and freedoms of every person and contribute to the development of a culture of law.
People who know their rights can exercise and protect them. We therefore explain in plain language which rights and freedoms every person has, how they are protected and which routes the law provides for asserting them. This covers human rights as well as legal questions that matter in everyday life.
Our information is general in nature: we do not assess individual cases and do not act as representatives. Where individual advice is needed, we refer people to suitable advice services.
Our methods
information and educational materials in print and digital form
lectures, seminars, webinars and schools
general legal information, orientation and referral to suitable advice services (Verweisberatung) within the limits permitted by law
documentation and analysis of legal developments
cooperation with educational and research institutions, initiatives and organisations in Germany and beyond
Our work
Access to information and information literacy
We widen access to socially relevant information and strengthen the ability to find, contextualise and check information.
Support for people persecuted on political grounds
We support people who are persecuted on political, racial or religious grounds, as well as refugees and displaced persons, within the limits permitted by law.
Legal training and a network of young lawyers
We promote the legal training of students and young lawyers and bring them into contact with one another through a network.
